Understanding Device LED Status Indicators

Ever stared at your UniFi device wondering what that blinking light is trying to tell you? Here’s a simplified breakdown of the most common LED patterns and what they mean across UniFi access points, routers, switches, and UDM base models:

🟡 Startup & Adoption

  • Flashing White (every 0.5s): Device is booting up.
  • Steady White: Ready to be adopted into your UniFi Network.
  • Flashing White–Blue–Off: TFTP recovery mode (used for firmware recovery).

🔵 Normal Operation

  • Steady Blue: Device is adopted and working normally. WiFi is active.
  • Rapid Flashing Blue: “Locate” feature is active—helps you find the device physically.

🔴 Issues & Troubleshooting

  • Blue + Flashing Off (every 5s): No internet connection.
  • Strobing White/Off: Try power cycling. If it persists, contact support.
  • LED Off: Device is offline. Check power, PoE, and Ethernet connections.

🟣 Firmware & Updates

  • Quick Flashing White/Blue: Firmware is updating—don’t unplug!

🌐 UniFi Bridge (UBB) Specific

  • Red with Circulating Blue: 60GHz link dropped (often due to weather).
  • Green: Devices are aligned properly (when using the Alignment Tool).

📶 UniFi Mobile Routers (UMR)

  • Blinking Blue (3s on, 0.2s off): Network or WiFi error.
  • Blinking White (3s on, 0.2s off): SIM card issue (locked or not detected).
